JUNE JULY & AUGUST 2003
AUG 30- Added a sketch I did a little while ago to my gallery in the ORBS section. It's called 'Spastic Suggestion', and apart from being quite funny, it encapsulates a lot of ideas, I guess in a certain context it could be looked at as a government dictating it's views to a defenseless people, or on a smaller scale; this is something that we all go through, pigeon holing, labelling...It's simple like all my sketches, so 'check the meaning'. Peace, Yoshi.
AUG 27- The film Solaris has already been reviewed in the Cakes section, what wasn't given it's due credit however was the soundtrack to that movie. I know from living with artists, and being a writer myself, that this kind of calm music is not just a great addition to your collection, but also a bit of a stimulant for creativity. Simeon Aston, one of Nefisa's earliest members is one such proud owner of this LP. Therefore, let it be known that I have reviewed this fine piece of music, better known to you as the Solaris Soundtrack, check it out in the Cakes section.
YESTERDAY- Added a review of an all time great, "Illmatic" was Nas' debut and still remains his greatest LP. Check it out in the Cakes section. Peace. Yoshi.
AUG 25- Two new reviews for you, firstly a film I just saw recently, "The Sacrifice" by Andrej Tarkovskij, and a film I actually saw a long time ago, "City of God". Both are in the Cakes section. Taste them. Yosh.
AUG 23- Hope you noticed the flash logo on the index page. If you didn't then shame on you. A new track is up above for you all to peep. It's actually an MP3 download this time, and despite the obnoxious DJ, and the terrible quality, this is probably some of the best British hip-hop out there today, if it doesn't get you moving, then nothing will... Nefisa hasn't been updated in a while. The biggest thing that stops nefisa's progress is life. When a lot of things, good or bad, are happening in my head, or my life, this website will become slow and lazy. That's for all you returning visitors. However, I know for a fact that all of the first time visitors find this an amazingly fresh and interesting place, so that in itself makes me happy. I regularly get hits from all over the world, although as I've mentioned for some time, I seem to have a very steady group of hardcore nefi's in Ecuador. Just to make it easier for all you guys to communicate, I've opened up the forum for anyone to post in, so you don't have to sign-up if you want to post! Peace for the moment, Y.
AUG 19- Short stories galore. The previously mentioned website, myfashionlife.com has also linked up to my recent short story, and you can check out what Michele, who runs that site, had to say about the story here. ALSO however, I do have another short story for you to munch on. I felt the need to express something in a different way this time. Using a different, more direct style. This story goes by the name of Choking kills. Knowledge lives. and you can check it out in the Quills section. Some of the thoughts that I got into were very much inspired from the conversation I had with the owner of the wordsound label, Skiz Fernando. You can of course, still check out that interview in the Focus section. But for now, check the story and feel free to let me know what you thought of it in the humans forum. Peace to you my stranger. Y.Misdaq/Yoshi.
AUG 17- The Human diary has been updated above! Also, a website called myfashionlife.com has given me a very kind compliment, and linked me up, you can go and check it out here, it was the August 14th update, so just scroll down! Knowing very little about the website, other than the link and nice comment they gave me, I'm now going to link you back to them. Whoever 'they' are, let them sing their fashionable praises for nefisa for as long as they feel like it. I'm a bird with wings of meaning. I fly. Peace, Yosh.
AUG 13- I finished a short-story that I began one year ago. Title: Klekomensharif. Go see it in the Quills section. It's an important story for me to have finished at this point in time. I started off writing this one on my university campus roughly in April 2002, it was a sunny afternoon and I was bored out of my brains with the education I was getting. This piece started off as me wanting to be creative. The course I was taking at the time wasn't allowing me to be creative. I've since quit that course. What began as the opening paragraph on that day, slowly evolved every couple of months until a week or two ago when I finally finished it. I hope it does something to you. Peace, Y.Misdaq(Yoshi)
AUG 11- There has been a death in my family, not just in my family, in our family, my cousin, and member of this website- Diamondscepter is also going through the same pain. It's not easy to deal with such a thing, especially for me when I'm half-way around the world, but one thing it makes you remember is that life is precious. If you can manage to live your life and give love to people, and have babies, and have grandchildren and happy life running all around you, then you've done something right. Life is a beautiful thing, and in many ways, death is only the beginning of the journey. May our beloved grandmother rest in peace, calm & warmth until we next see each other, God willing. God is great: the most kind, the most merciful.
AUG 08- Munch on this, this, and this.
AUG 07- Apologies for lack of updates, I've been very sick. Some kind of stomach bug. Everyone in England knows how hot it's been here, so that's made it a nice sickness in a strange way. Still! The nefisa-show must go on, here's what's been happening. First of all I have been working on many things for my upcoming EP, I have just sent off a package to a certain someone and that certain someone will eventually help me in creating a truly amazing bonus feature on this EP, yes it's a secret. I've also been recording one of the final tracks for the EP, which I can tell you is going to be called "Plutonium Skies (Something)". That's the only track that is not produced by me, and I know people will like it, the beat is hot, and the lyrics are on some soulful/hyper-personal/psychadelic/futuristic type stuff. Business as usual. The covert art is also being done at this very moment.
AUG 03- Thinking about seeing Terminator 3? Check the review in the cakes section, peace! Yoshi.
AUG 01- Ayla Karmali, the 6th member of nefisa, has written something pretty arresting that I'd like people to check! It's called "World News Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" and you can find it in the QUILLS (literature) section. I suppose you could call it a commentary on the media, and corruption in general. Some people are already clued up on the extent to which this world is completely insane. I have put this up however, for those whose are less aware of what goes on. Perhaps for the people out there who see things the way they are told to see things, instead of how they undeniably are.
Incidentally, Ayla mentioned to me that whilst writing this piece she was listening to "De-Loused in the Comatorium" which was reviewed on nefisa just a few days ago. This album is still swirling around in my head, I can't emphasise enough to people out there to check this out if they can. Peace, Y.
JUL 30 - Another review, this time of one of my all-time favourite albums, "Hounds of Love" by Kate Bush.
JUL 28- One of the most exciting 'new' groups, The Mars Volta, have released one of the most ambitious rock-records in a long time, their debut LP entitled "De-Loused at the Comatorium" is playing on the system as I type, and is also reviewed for your pleasure in the cakes section. Peace, Yoshi / Y.Misdaq
PS- My good friend Lawrence has just written a dope article that really spoke to me, I'd like u to check it out. I hope it can speak to a lot more people out there. The world is one big self-aware, self-critical, sarcastic hole... but light needs to appear, and human beings, let alone black or white people, need to come together instead of allowing every single system that runs our life, to create hatred and jealousy over crap like "who earns more money?" or other such nonsense... PEACE!
JUL 25- A review of one of the all-time classic albums, "Revolver" by The Beatles set the standard for many of the sonic-experimentations we hear in music today. LOOK ABOVE, new song, eat it. Everything in life is connected, especially music. I've just got home and it's 2:53 am. My ears are ringing. Enjoy the review you funny humans. Peace and so much love that I can't stand no more war. Yoshi.
ps- bombs are bad. so is killing people. no liberation by the sword. no freedom through death. no happiness. life is too beautiful for us to allow a bunch of lying fucks to ruin it for the less fortunate people. Every protest, no matter how small, even if just a comment, means something to those people who have died, and those who are about to die. Love, Yoshi/Y.Misdaq
JUL
21- NEW SONG! Alan, nefisa's 7th member
and a good friend of mine has produced a track for an RnB group out of Venezia,
Italia called Soulsite,
he agreed with me that such a outstanding track should be featured right here
on nefisa, so if you will accompany me to the audio section, you will hear this
new gem, titled "A Part of Me". Needless
to say it's not everyday that a female vocalist will come this strong on a track,
and Alan really handles the beat well, so take my word for it, it's worth the
download!
ALSO - I know you love the 'also' part of the day!!! I have a review of a film,
in my opinion a very underrated french film called "Nelly
et Monsieur Arnaud" and you will find it, along with the awful picture,
in the cakes section! This one is really hard to get
hold of, good luck if you try. PEACE, Y.
ALSO- for all the hip-hop heads out there, I have added a review
of a modern classic, "Latyrx" which
you'll find in the cakes section, this album is worth
purchasing if you don't already own it! Peace, Yoshi.
JUL 14- In the FOCUS (features) section you will now find the interview with me, Yoshi, your friend. The questions were shot by the talented Mr. Mikrosopht, who is the man over at enooze.com where you can check my interview in it's original form. I Hope it's an enjoyable read to people who read it... Should any thoughts come up as a result then feel free to leave your comments/questions in the humans forum! Peace & love, Y.Misdaq, Yoshi.
JUN
29- The DVD of one of the better films in recent memory, "Punch-Drunk
Love" comes out all across the US on July 1st. Anyone who can see US
DVD's in england, like myself, then be sure to check it out, get yourself a
good deal. Within the hidden realms of the cakes section
resides a review of this fine film, go and seek it out. Peace, Yoshi
JUN 22- Look to your left! A new section unravels in the world
of nefisa, the "focus" section will be
home to all of the special features that nefisa brings to you, these will mainly
include interviews and meetings with people of relevance in the creative world.
The current focus for the next five days will be on Wordsound recordings, and
my interview with their founder and owner, Skiz H. Fernando. A major player
on the underground scene, Skiz will be divluging all of this thoughts on the
current scene of hip-hop, the current state of politics, and the current state
of humanity, in a mega-interview that will be serialised over the next 5 days.
Today (Sunday) sees the first part of this interview unleashed upon you, which
also features some amazing photography from Nefisa member number 9, Christina
who was with me the whole time! We're team-players here! peace & enjoy todays
broadcast, Y.Misdaq / Yoshi.
JUN 20- FILM REVIEW, the classic from Japan, "Hana-bi" is a modern-day classic that has never received enough praise. The review is in the cakes section. ALSO, look up above, and as promised, a real audio version (small file!) of "Heavy Mental" the inspiring poetry is delivered by Killah Priest, and this track will never lose it's magic. peace, Yoshi.
JUN 14- In the cakes section you will now find a review of one of my favourite albums of all time, Live Evil by Miles Davis (1971). It's a poetic review, I sat down and transcribed my every thought as the music hit my ears and reached my soul. That's my kind of writing! Peace, Y. Misdaq.....
