Nefi-1: Y. Misdaq aka Yoshi
Globe: Brighton, UK / D.C., USA
In my own words: "I set up this website back in 2002 as a way of giving talented artists a chance to shine on the strength of their works of art. I'm constantly struggling to get my art, be it music, writing or visuals, exposed to more people and so I want anyone talented -who's also struggling- to know that they're not alone. I want nefisa merely to be a reflection/example of the artistic community that should be alive in the hearts of all great artists, because we all share so much, we meet and we strike up conversations and make connections in seconds, because our hearts are already receptive and opened. Nefisa is a community. I'm the guy who owns the land, but I want more and more people to come and stay with me.
There is much beauty being created here on Earth. Most of it goes under the radar. I want to see more and more of that great art that people don't know much about; I want to share what I've seen."

In her own words: "I am increasingly conscious of the relationships and boundaries between the spiritual and the materialistic, truth and power, the social and the individual, and where I stand between them as an artist. I believe that art is a powerful tool, it can bring the 'other' closer."

Globe: Milano, Italia
In his own words: "I don't know why at a certain point of my life I felt like starting to make music.
I just found
myself more and more deeply into it...turning from a boy into a young man I
realized that art was going to play a more and more important role into the
developement of my personality. I've liked hip-hop ever since, so making hip-hop
beats came almost automatically.
My main inspirations are life, the planet earth and all its places and cultures..."

Nefi-11: SkevOne aka SKEVS
Globe: New York, USA
In
his own words: "I've always escaped definition. I feel it limits me.
Simply said, my art is reflective of my life. We're always moving towards the
limitless. I like to think my art will poke holes in illusion and present a
peice of the ultimate. I've never attempted to perfect a style. The imperfection
is more real to me.
I am inspired by anyone who seeks the total expression of his or her self. Even
more so, when they can live off what they love. That seems to be the trick.
But I am most inspired by my relationship with the Creator"

Nefi-12: Admass
Globe: London, UK
In his own words: "I live in London now, but I'm actually from an ex-industrial village in North Wales. The place used to thrive off the coal industry, but now we've got a heroin problem instead.
I've been writing and recording for about eight years, so I've finally got my bad years out of the way. Recently, current events have pushed my work ever politically leftwards. My main inspirations are Radiohead, The Who and Charles Mingus, although I don't sound like any of these."

Nefi-15: Julia Clark-Lowes
Globe: Brighton, UK
In her own words: "As a photographer it is often difficult to maintain a set of ethics at the expense of a good photograph. There are a lot of 'Bad' things happening in the world. But I do not want to photograph a starving child or a homeless man in the name of truth. Is capturing a person at their weakest point such a noble pursuit, such a great reward?
Instead, I have taken time in cities, towns and villages to try and see the finer, stronger aspects of humanity - the moments when a commuter on the underground smiles for five seconds, unknowingly, at the dextrous fingers and strings of a Rasta; a child being ignored at a rally whose expression makes the crowds mission seem futile, weak. These are the moments of glory that you find when you wait, pause, reflect and then…There it is."

Nefi-16: nosa
Globe: London, UK
In his own words: "In this world of convergence and same-ism, Art (in its many forms) is my outlet...all measured against me-one. The expression of mySELF is a freedom i refuse to waste. Not anymore. There's too much to learn. 'Mistakes' will be made...but that's why pencils have erasers."

Nefi-17: Hurricane Angel
Globe: New York, USA
In his own words: "Like K-OS said : "got a lot to say/ but really lots to learn" i feel i stand to learn something from anyone and everyone. And i try to reflect that in my style of fractured trip-hop and downtempo. It is something slightly familiar mixed with something new and unsettling. For the first time in my life i am making music from my heart- refusing to be confined by typical structure or genre limitations. i'm still growing with this project, still evolving and moving- this is mine, this is Hurricane Angel."

Nefi-19: Helen Tovey
Globe: Cheltenham, UK
In her own words: "I hold a mirror to my face so that those who look and see me see themselves and therefore I disappear" (Christian Boltanski). I try to create work that that allows people to reflect and I often use found objects or images as a basis to explore, not just my own emotions, but a more universal understanding of the world.
Often this exploration is based in the sense that our present-self is connected to our past and childhood through memories and photographs and that through our lives we make a million choices that take us down one path only. There are millions of possibilities and millions of seconds and we struggle to harness ourselves against the chaos that is life. Our brains collect, store and filter information in order that we should be able to function in this fluctuating state and through the power of our imagination time is fluid as we re-live our past and present simultaneously."

Since then, photography always kept giving me great feelings, not only taking a picture, but just looking at the world, more closely, through a frame, and noticing the beauty all around us. Just paying attention to the light, which reveals all there is to see.
