Ten Day

'Ramadhan 10' mp3 (4334k) :: download

The book 'Ramadhan Sonnets' by a brother friend and fellow poet Daniel Abdal-Hayy Moore arrived in an envelope through my letterbox this morning. I also felt like making a song before I headed off for London. I took the wonderfully designed book of poetry and briefly had a look for a sentence that stuck out, and thus the verse sentence of this song was born. It was fun to play on the guitar, although I had rehearsed it many times and it sounded funner than it does on the final recording, this is nearly always the case with the acoustic stuff. By the time I had set up the recording equipment and started all the programs (this also involves turning on a seperate computer and switching monitors and lots of other stuff) then my vibe was slightly punctured, as well as my fingers being rather tired. So I went to the other side of the house to pray with an open window and birds. That's the side of the house that faces the garden. I am lucky to have had a house with a garden in it. After this I felt better, came back to my studio, which faces the street and is filled with construction workers and passing cars this morning, and I recorded the song in the form you hear it. I wrote the lyrics on the back of the envelope in which the book was sent. I did not do this because it was some cool thing to do, but because it was the only side of something paper-like which was blank. Everything else here already seems to be filled up with writing or lines and colours. I take that as a good sign, although the mess is going to have to be organised when I return from London. As my brother said last night upon entering this dungeon palace of art, there are just too many mediums flying around, it's all too much ! I'd love to be tidy, but I don't see it happening.

Nevertheless, I hope the song echoes some good vibes, especially for those fasting. I hope you feel the love in the song, for it's the same love I feel for you and humankind.

Peace,

Y.Misdaq, Ramadhan 10, 1427
